Employer Sponsored Stream
This visa allows local businesses in specific areas to hire skilled workers when they can’t find qualified Australian workers to fill the job openings. It helps employers in regions with a shortage of workers to bring in skilled individuals from other countries.
Standard Requirements
- Be nominated by an approved work sponsor
- Have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list.
- Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.
- Be under 45 years of age.
- Meet minimum standards of English language proficiency.
Benefits of this Visa
- You can only live, work, and study in specific areas of Australia that are marked as regional.
- After three years from when you receive your visa, you can apply for permanent residency.
- You can live and work in Australia up to 5 years.
Labour Agreement Stream
This program is for talented workers who are chosen by employers that have a special agreement with the Australian Government. These agreements are created between the government (represented by the Department) and employers

- Your employer needs to have a special agreement with the Australian government for you to be eligible for this program.
- Be nominated by an approved work sponsor.

- You can live and work in Australia up to 5 years
Subsequent Entrant
This visa is for family members of someone who has a Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (SESR) (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 494). If the family members want to join the primary visa holder in Australia and they are applying for their own SESR visa separately, they can apply for this visa.
